Hedgerow Apothecary
Herbal medicine often conjures images of the Dark Ages—of witches, magic, and shadowed rooms lined with jars of unknown curiosities. But for me, the image has always been one of peace: a deep, quiet understanding of nature and how to coexist with it. Where I grew up, we called the keepers of this knowledge 'Hedgerow Doctors.'
Many of us share this memory: a parent or grandparent soothing a sting with a Dock leaf or settling an upset stomach with garden mint. I was raised on this gentle wisdom, though I often wish I had listened more closely when I was younger.
Today, that passion has been reignited—not just for the medicinal properties of plants, but for the rich tapestry of history, mythology, and folklore woven around them.
Hedgerow Apothecary is my attempt to gather these fragmented stories. It is a curated repository of the medicinal, the magical, and the astrological—a place to renew the ancient ritual of passing knowledge from one generation to the next.
I hope you will join me in preserving this wisdom, lest it be lost to time.
